Once in awhile you come across a Vintage piece that you know will remain in your closet forever. Something that is so timeless it can transcend into any decade or season. For me it was this beautiful 1940’s dress bought at my absolute favorite store in California: American Vintage. (Fullerton location).
The genius of the dress is how it juxtaposes a structured military feel with a soft, feminine pattern featuring beautiful tropical flowers. And that ruffled satin pocket square? Be still my heart! The black piping and shiny buttons complete the look. I did add my own belt here to cinch in the waist even more, choosing a shiny patent leather to match the buttons.
For accessories I chose a “retro” pair of polka dot shades ($4.50 at XXI, thank you!) a pair of $2 vintage jet teardrop earrings, a structured Vintage bag and…for a touch of luxe…my most prized pair of ruched suede Prada pumps.
Captain Rogers? I’m ready for that dance now…
