Camden Tea Dress
CAMDEN TEA DRESS

What I wore…
Hat: Vintage Sunglasses: River Island Necklace: Vintage Gloves: Vintage (Hidden Valley Treasures) Purse: Chanel Dress/Belt: Camden Town (England) Shoes: Guess — Musical Inspiration: “The Mother We Share” –CVRCHES —
Big Hat. Gloves. A touch of Chanel. Can I be buried in this outfit, please? Sure to some it’s a little over the top but I love the combination of treasured vintage pieces anchored by an inexpensive dress I found while strolling the streets of Camden Town in England.
When putting together a new look I usually choose one piece first that I want to spotlight. In this case it was a vintage pair of dark blue gloves purchased at “Hidden Valley Treasures” in Allentown, PA; One of the best vintage shops I’ve ever had the pleasure of discovering. Look out for a future blog feature with more info about my other purchases there. Plus an in depth interview with the stores knowledgable owner!
The beautiful thing about these gloves is that the material isn’t uber fancy so I feel perfectly fine rocking these in broad daylight. Brown, Cream and Nude accessories seemed appropriate to tie in the colors of the dress print. It’s also important to note how the shape of these cat-eye sunglasses ties in with the outfits “retro vibe”. River Island always offers beautiful sunglasses at great prices: www.RiverIsland.com Another reason why it’s my favorite store in London!
The Chanel box purse was another fantastic vintage discovery I made last year in Tampa and the necklace actually belongs to my Mother. Assuming from the ’80s perhaps? I usually prefer an oversized statement piece of jewelry over anything dainty or delicate. Pearls would have been “fine”. But jumbo brushed gold gumball-sized pearls? Better.
Hopefully this outfit will inspire you to confidently wear more ridiculously large hats and host an elaborate tea party with crustless sandwiches. I’ll keep an eye out for the invite….
