GLAMPING

So I went camping. On purpose. Twice. Which pretty much makes me an expert, right? I can’t say it’s my “favorite” thing to do but when your fiancé and his family have an annual tradition of going to Le Mans (24hr Race, google it!) in France it becomes one of those “things we do for love”. So today I thought I would share a few of my #Glamping aka Glamorous Camping beauty essentials that have really improved the experience for me. We’ll start with the basics:

Sunscreen

Even if it is remotely sunny, this should be applied no matter what. Do you want to end up looking like Magda from “There’s something about Mary?”. No! Not a good look. I prefer a spray that is dry to the touch after it’s applied so you aren’t left with any greasy residue. ESPECIALLY on the face, where sunscreen is most important. I made the mistake of buying an oilier version of sunscreen spray once and my makeup literally slid off. Also not a good look!

Wipes

I would suggest bringing makeup wipes AND “fresh” wipes by Kleenex, as shown here. While makeup wipes are to be used at the end of the day (I always opt for sensitive skin as many of these can be very harsh) you’ll find yourself using “fresh” wipes for literally everything. To clean your feet, your shoes, your bags etc.!

Bug Spray

Do not…I repeat…do NOT ever leave home to camp without bug spray. Even if someone tells you they “never get bit”. Bugs seem to love me! Whether it’s my perfume or my charming personality…I do not know. All I know is before I had it I was eaten up my mosquitoes and had giant round bites all over my legs. No Bueno.

Band Aids

Whether your shoes are comfortable or not, blisters and cuts are almost a certainty when camping for more than a couple days. Stash some in your purse AND your suitcase. Just in case.

Dry Shampoo

No explanation needed. Showers at Le Mans are actually pretty decent but some campsites I’m told don’t even have showers. This sounds like a nightmare but damn it, y’all. You may be married to a mountain man who enjoyed this sort of “roughing it” fiasco. If that’s the case? Bring two bottles. And maybe a mini can of hairspray too. You don’t want your hair looking like a witches broomstick…

Nail Polish

Here comes the horrific part. I got a mani/pedi before we left (which I highly recommend) but by the end of the camping trip expect your feet to look like one of those forensic files autopsy reports. Sorry to be graphic but that is EXACTLY what mine reminded me of! Topping up your nail polish is a must as chips will inevitably happen.

And now for a bit of luxury…

Caudalie Facial Mist:

A spritz of this refreshing facial mist will leave your skin hydrated and nourished. Pro tip: for extra refreshment store in a cooler or mini fridge if you have it while camping! (Available HERE!)

Dior Shower Gel:

Bring along at least one or two “luxury” products in your favorite designer scent. It’s little things like this that cheer you up and feel fancy. (Available HERE!)

Clarins Lip Oil:

After receiving a sample of lip oil I was INSTANTLY hooked! The consistency is velvety smooth as opposed to greasy or sticky like other lip treatments. Slick this on before bedtime so it melts in while you sleep and awake to beautiful hydrated lips! (Available HERE!)

Nuxe Paris “Creme Prodigieuse” Anti-Fatigue Moisturizer:

If you follow my IG feed you know I’ve posted about this before. I don’t leave home without this deliciously scented, creamy, dreamy moisturizer! (Available HERE!) It is THE perfect product. Lightweight yet does the job of nourishing your skin, without leaving it greasy. You only need to leave it on a minute before applying makeup. Or! It mixed wonderfully with liquid foundation. **I do wish it has some SPF though, so make sure you apply that over your finished makeup.

Hope you enjoyed this roundup up #Glamping necessities that will keep you feeling and looking great in the great outdoors.

Safe travels,

Xoxo
