Lindy Bop

Spring is nearly here! You know what THAT means, fashionistas! A closet overhaul is in order. We’re finally ready to shed heavier layers for lighter looks in a more cheerful colour palette.

Luckily I’ve found the perfect #SS18 designs from “Lindy Bop” that will provide the jolt of color and whimsy your wardrobe so desperately needs. Starting with the “Matilda” rockabilly shirt dress (available here) that I’m wearing here today. Though it was hard for me to choose just one dress to feature I had to go with what “spoke” to me first. In browsing the website I was intrigued by the juxtaposition of strong graphic stripes against a demure floral backdrop. It’s ladylike but still playful. It’s sweet but not TOO sweet. Which really fits my personality! 😉

The timeless shirt dress shape is always a flattering style. Plus, the pink belt provided with the dress cinches you in at the waist to enhance (or give the illusion to) that sexy hourglass shape. Nipping in the waist is also important to balance out the voluminous skirt…that is 100% twirl-worthy!

As Lindy Bop has come out with so many beautiful designs this season I’ve taken the liberty of editing a few key pieces here for you to make your own. Below you’ll find my favorites from the Spring/Summer collection with a few notes on how I would style each look. Enjoy!

“Marilyn” Lime Cupcake Print Dress

I LOVE a halter neck. Especially on those of us with larger busts. It’s so flattering! I simply can’t get enough of the adorable cupcake pattern here. A simple white cardigan thrown over your shoulders with a pretty pastel lipstick would finish this look perfectly. Oh! As for flattering cupcake flavours…I would go for something with a bright red cherry on top to compliment your outfit! 🙂

“Adalene” Yellow Skyline Swing Skirt

After a long harsh winter isn’t a cheerful yellow skirt what you deserve right now? I love the interesting skyline pattern on the hem. The choices for tops to wear with this is endless! A chambray shirt when you’re feeling casual or perhaps a black turtleneck with nerdy glasses when you’re feeling studious! Have fun with this skirt but let it take center stage by keeping your top minimal.

Gold Bee Necklace

Insect accessories? Oh yes. They’re still a HUGE trend thanks to Gucci and various designers putting these little critters in the fashion forefront. Here’s a cute (and affordable!) way to get in on the trend. It would compliment a simple outfit or add an adorable final touch to any of the Lindy Bop dresses seen in this post.

“Bailee” Meadow Bicycle Print Dress

If you’re looking for THE standout Spring/Summer dress, look no further. This sweet little number starts off with a classic bow at the top, cinches in your waist with a matching belt and finishes with a whimsical pattern at the hem. The mint shade is flattering on all skin tones. I would love to see this paired with a white Mary Jane shoe and a structured, ladylike handbag.

“Angelina” Purple Pencil Dress

Moving onto eveningwear I present to you the most gorgeous “date night” dress in a stunning shade of purple. This dress is also available in black, should you prefer a little more drama. Though it could also work as a daytime dress, I imagine wearing it to a fancy dinner. There is elegance in covering up the bust and still having plenty of sex appeal. This design hugs your curves perfectly and practically screams “Va Va VOOM!”. Pair with a smokey eye and voila! Date night sorted.

“Leesa” Black Rose Bloom Dress

Speaking of a versatile day-to-night dress, “Leesa” is one you can count on to achieve multiple looks. During the day I’d go with the updo seen here and a classic string of pearls. Then for an unexpected evening twist…wouldn’t it be fun to toughen this up with a leather jacket? The juxtaposition of hard (leather) and soft (floral pattern) is very fashion forward.
