What I wore… Earrings: Jaclyn Smith Ring: Forever 21 Watch: Movado Top: XXI Belt: Vintage (Found at OxFam, London) Pants: Apricot Lane (www.ApricotLaneUSA.com) Shoes: Bebe Bag: 64Bags.com Musical Inspiration: “Atlantis” by Ellie Goulding

“I can’t wear printed pants!”, said almost every girl I know. Now trust me, the idea of colorful, busy patterned pants scared the…well, pants…off of me too! But here’s how I did it MY way.

I was lucky enough to find these interesting leggings on sale at “Apricot Lane” in Downtown Disney. I really loved the pattern. Probably because the colors were jewel tones (my favorite) and the pattern was reminiscent of a royal tapestry. Very “rich” looking with the chains and swirls, no? I knew I needed to anchor them with something very basic.

A simple leather top like this is SO versatile and the peplum was important to cover the elastic waist of the leggings. Making them appear more “pant-like”. I chose an interesting Lion buckle cinch belt to tie in the shades of gold. I am really into all of the “Chanel Symbols” after reading Justine Picardie’s biography on the legendary Coco Chanel. Wait…you haven’t read it? You simply MUST! I will include the info below.

If you’re not familiar with Chanel symbolism, Mademoiselle Chanel was forever incorporating lions (Leo is her astrological sign), camellias (her favorite flower) and the number 5 into her collections. You’ll have to read the book as to why this number was important to her. But I digress…back to the outfit…

The earrings are Jaclyn Smith, a HUGE style icon and my favorite Charlie’s Angel, whose collection for K-Mart is unbelievably affordable. Not to mention timeless and chic! The gold and black stone ring matched the earrings perfectly. I have been buying more inexpensive metal jewelry lately now that (Thanks to Pinterest) I know how to coat each piece with a clear, gloss spraypaint so the metal doesn’t turn. That was my biggest gripe about buying cheaper jewelry before. Not anymore!

Of course no look is complete without the perfect bag. For me, it’s my latest obsession: the “Bella” tote from my friends at 64Bags.com. Isn’t it the prettiest shade of berry? I am including a link below where you can use my promo code to get TWENTY percent off your entire order! Savings to buy another bag, of course. 😉 Thank you to 64Bags.com for the generosity. I’d really love to see more girls showing these bags off around town. I’ve never worn the Bella without receiving heaps of compliments from fashionable strangers.

On a final note, I’d like to point out that for this look I FINALLY mastered the “sock bun”. Just in time for me to cut my hair several inches. Murphy’s law I suppose. Just a warning: the next few blogs were shot BEFORE the new “do”.

So…are you feeling confident enough to rock a pair of printed pants like these? I have really grown to love them. Sure, they’re tight. They’re loud. They command attention. But! What’s life without a little risk? ? Answer: Not worth living! 😉

Be bold, my friends!
